Roselake Ventures is a venture fund investing in early-stage tech companies across Africa and other emerging markets. We invest in promising startups raising pre-seed and seed rounds. We are sector agnostic but are keenly interested in fintech, web3, logistics and healthtech companies solving for large markets.

Our first checks range from $10k–$150k and are usually a SAFE with less than $20M post-money valuation. We invest in companies that have an MVP of their product with founders working full-time on the business.

How to pitch Roselake

  1. Submit
    We streamline our deal intake and ask companies looking to pitch us to fill out our form.

  2. Review
    After you submit, you will receive an automated copy of your submission via email. We will review your application and respond within two weeks with feedback if it’s not a good fit for Roselake or an invite to schedule a time to speak.

  3. Discussion
    We will speak with you via Zoom for about an hour about your startup and team.

  4. Decision
    After we speak with you, we will move quickly to provide a decision. Expect a response from us within 1-2 weeks after the call. If we decide to invest, we will work to have cash in your bank account within 30 days of an official offer.

 FAQs

  • At this time we exclusively invest in companies based anywhere in Africa or Asia. We are experimenting with some selective investments in other regions as well.

  • We are generalists and don't favour particular verticals. The vast majority of our portfolio companies are in Fintech, Digital Commerce, Climate Tech, Logistic, Web3 and SaaS.

  • We invest in pre-seed and seed rounds. We may invest as a follow-on investment into existing portfolio companies.

  • We are comfortable setting terms and being your first check, but our small check size doesn’t allow us to be the bulk raise for your round. If you have a lead investor, we evaluate the terms of the round that are already there and decide if we want to invest alongside the lead.

  • Most of the time, founders can expect to receive a response from us between 2-4 weeks after having a call with us.
